Wearable Index

Privacy

How we handle information when you use Wearable Index.

Effective 23 October 2026

Scope & contact

This policy covers wearableindex.com, our public wearable-data API and ChatGPT integration, and support messages sent to Wearable Index. Wearable Index is an independent editorial project. For privacy questions or requests, contact hello@wearableindex.com.

Your use of ChatGPT or another client is also governed by that provider’s own privacy policy. This page describes what Wearable Index receives and does.

Using the API

The integration receives the tool arguments the client sends: product keywords, filters, device IDs and comparison choices. We use them to search our public catalog and return results. It does not request an account, email address, payment information, health records or access to your private files.

Our API code does not save searches, create user profiles, set cookies or write tool arguments to application logs. It processes requests in memory and caches public catalog data. No user query is sent when the API fetches the catalog. We do not receive your entire conversation unless you or your client include it in a tool argument. Please send only product-research information.

Website visits

Our hosting provider, Vercel, processes technical request information such as IP address, request path, time, browser information and response status to deliver and protect the website and API.

The main website uses Vercel Web Analytics to understand aggregate visits and referrals. Its data can include page URLs, referrers, approximate location, browser and device type. It does not use analytics cookies; Vercel describes its visitor identifier as a temporary hash discarded after 24 hours. These statistics help us understand which pages are useful. The API, this privacy page and the support page do not load that analytics script. Vercel’s analytics privacy documentation.

Some other site pages load fonts from Google Fonts, which receives the network information needed to serve them. This privacy page and the support page use local system fonts.

Contact & subscriptions

If you email us, we receive your email address, message and any attachments you choose to include. We use them to respond, investigate a problem or correct the catalog. Avoid sending passwords, authentication codes, payment details or medical information.

If you separately choose to subscribe through the website, our newsletter system receives your email address and subscription preferences to manage that subscription and send requested messages. The ChatGPT integration does not subscribe you or require a subscription. You can unsubscribe through an email’s unsubscribe link or contact us.

Recipients & purposes

Vercel provides hosting, security and website analytics. Email and newsletter hosting/delivery providers process messages and subscriptions on our behalf. ChatGPT or another client receives the public results of the tool calls it makes. External product links open websites with their own privacy practices.

We do not sell personal information, run targeted ads through the integration, or use API searches to build advertising profiles. We may disclose information where necessary to comply with law, address abuse or protect the service. Service providers may process data outside your country under their applicable terms and safeguards.

Retention

API inputs: no persistent application storage; request processing ends with the request. The catalog cache contains public product data, not user searches.

Hosting logs: our current Vercel Hobby plan provides a one-hour runtime-log window, and this project has no external log drains. This window does not describe all of Vercel’s security or operational records, which follow Vercel’s own retention policies.

Website analytics: our current plan provides one month of analytics history; temporary visitor identifiers expire after 24 hours. Aggregate figures we record for editorial planning may be kept longer without adding visitor identities.

Support: we retain correspondence as needed to resolve and document your request, handle related follow-up, and meet any applicable legal or security obligations. You can ask us to delete correspondence that is no longer needed for those purposes. Subscription records are kept while you remain subscribed; minimal opt-out records may be retained to avoid sending unwanted mail.

Your choices

You can stop using or disconnect the integration in your client, browse with your browser’s privacy tools, and avoid including personal information in searches. Contact us to request access, correction or deletion of information you supplied, or to object to its use. We may need limited information to verify a request. We cannot look up or delete a saved API search history because we do not maintain one.

Depending on your location, you may have additional privacy rights or the right to contact a data-protection authority. Requests relating to your ChatGPT account or chat history must also be directed to that provider.

Changes

We will update this page and its effective date if our data practices change. Questions about this policy or the integration can be sent through our support page.
